“I first hired Alex as a freelance illustrator to give a fresh look to the four monthly columnists' spot illustrations in BCBusiness magazine in early 2013. We were launching a big redesign and wanted a unique and fresh take. The illustrations were the perfect fit and ran with the monthly columns for 2 or 3 years.

Since then I have worked with Alex several times and every time it has been a great experience.

The larger projects Alex designed for us have been illustrated type covers — he did three for our January Best Cities for work in BC and each has a unique take. I had an idea in my mind but all I had to give Alex was a rudimentary sketch and he not only got it but took it to the next level…and very quickly and proficiently. He had ideas for colours and how to fix any problem areas my sketch didn’t take into account. We also did a story on craft beer and Alex designed the growler with all the cover lines on it — we had it printed and it was perfect.

We don’t assign illustrated type covers often but when we do Alex is the person to go to.”
